I love noggles but if they’re not a practical shape for kids who have these as their only prescription glasses I’m all for changing the design so they are comfortable and cool. I trust in your judgment in either case. Good luck and thanks!
After working with Mari firsthand and engaging in long conversations at Nouns Town about her background, I believe she is a AAA builder in both Nouns and Life. Which is why I have strong conviction in Mari’s ability to execute this undertaking at the highest feasible level with these funds, changing children's lives forever.
In the interest of supporting our ecosystem’s health, it would be appropriate for Joshua and the rest of the Prop 104 team to proactively re-evaluate their current status more critically. Perhaps there are options to cancel parts of their project and return a portion of the funding received, given that it will be over three years since their proposal passed before their vans actually hit the road (ref: last proposal update). I would assume that certain elements of their plans may now differ in terms of feasibility and impact due to evolving conditions, such as increased production costs across industries (vehicles, app development, etc.) between 2022 and 2024.

Mari has consistently overdelivered since the inception of her first 3D printed prototype and will continue doing so because that's how she is.

I loved the quality of these glasses at Nouns Town. Noggles are one of our primary memes and funding prescription glasses for children is a high quality, aligned, and Nounish story to tell. For the price I wish this funded more glasses, but I appreciate the amount of marketing commitments in the proposal.

Align with this. Mari has been delivering above and beyond ever since her first funding from DCS. (AFAIK she's the only one who Did any Cool Shit.) Her Noggles are far and away the best looking and most comfortable ones available, and every time I've given them away to people, they are always blown away. Yes this is a big ask but most of the costs are hard costs here, and real things that exist in the world have higher hard costs. I believe in Mari to do her best to make this a reality and I think, if successful, it will make an amazing addition to Nounish lore. Make us Proud Mari and team! ⌐◨-◨
Don’t have enough history or knowledge about previous prop and what happened. I do think this idea is a great one and well inline with nouns ⌐◨-◨ just need more of a history lesson
Like the mission given ⌐◨-◨ is such a big cultural icon for us and confident will end up better than last prop funded given the team

I think this is a big ask up front, and I struggled to make up my mind at first. However, after speaking with Mari, I gained renewed confidence in the project, particularly excited about its long-term potential to help 15,000 kids each year without requiring additional dao funds.
Combined with the media exposure and sustainability factors, plus the team behind it, this feels like smart long-term charity work.

not a big fan of charity props -- I don't think nouns is the best vehicle for this type of work and I think it passes too often for large spends because people feel bad about voting against something "wholesome".
There are many orgs out there explicitly designed to support charity flavored work. I don't think this is nouns superpower

Would be fully supportive of a scaled down trial, thanks for proposing Marinioac!
I feel confident the team will deliver. Would feel even better if the team commits to a stream and/or subDAO for release of funds. But think there is already enough movement here to warrant the greenlight.
noggles for kids gud. How do we not have an alliance of optometrists and eyewear makers all up on us?

Seems pretty unfair to punish one team because another has been stringing us along. Each prop should be considered on its own merit and I have complete confidence in Mari and team to deliver fully. Good luck ⌐◨-◨

For my very first vote with my first noun I vote a hearty HELL YES for this prop and this team. the type of thing a lot of us joined nouns because of... but ngl, feels weird to fund essentially the same idea a second time, with a different team, years later, after the first one is still not finished. but hey.. yolo
glasses and nouns go together well of course. while this is a big prop, I believe in Mari and her ability to execute something special.
sorry, i have a weird feeling about this one and am going to trust my gut. maybe streaming payments or smaller more frequent proposals would make me a hell yes. voted yes in nouncil. gl
Precious Noggles, , in partnership with various organizations, presents an innovative project with social and environmental impact. The project involves creating a mobile ophthalmological clinic equipped with a Precious Plastic recycling station, designed to produce and donate eyeglasses made from recycled plastic to 3,000 vulnerable children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The initiative promotes education, recycling, and sustainability, focusing on direct impact, broad media exposure, and mini-documentaries detailing the progress of the actions. In the long term, the project aims to assist 15,000 children per year and globally replicate the initiative through open-source molds and the noggles is going to be permanently displayed on the mobile unit, ensuring ongoing visibility and lasting impact, while expanding the reach and values of the Nouns brand across Precious Plastic community and future enviromental sponsers.

Precious Noggles, created from a proposal approved by Nouns DCS, aims to connect the Nouns community with Precious Plastic community, both CC0 brands focused on innovation and high impact. After the success of the first initiative, Precious Noggles is launching a more ambitious project: a mobile clinic equipped with a recycling station capable of producing eyeglass frames made from recycled plastic. The long-term goal of this project is to assist 15,000 vulnerable children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology (CBO), approximately 19% of children between 6 months and 15 years of age experience some form of vision impairment, but 80% of school-age children have never had an eye exam. Additionally, the initiative will provide education on recycling in areas lacking waste management infrastructure, creating a positive and lasting impact on socially vulnerable communities.
I, Marinioac, founder of Precious Noggles, along with Ilustradora, the NGO Visão do Bem, Casa Plástica, Precious Plastic Cotia, Easymoulds, Virei Notícia, and Berro.inc, are committed to carrying out a creative and high-impact project, fully aligned with the values of the Nouns community: Sub culture creative ideas. Our focus is on promoting education, recycling, inclusion, accessibility, and health, while also aiming for a global reach. The proposal seeks to collaborate with open source projects, enabling the Precious Plastic community to replicate these initiatives worldwide, thereby amplifying the impact of Nouns.

This project aligns with Nouns' core values of sub culture creative ideas while directly contributing to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to making a tangible impact in vulnerable communities, the project will boost the visibility and value of the Nouns brand, attracting new members and investors by demonstrating a clear commitment to global social and environmental causes.
SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Providing recycled eyeglasses to children directly improves their quality of life and academic performance, positively impacting the visual health of vulnerable populations.
SDG 4 (Quality Education): The eyeglasses help children learn better, and the project also offers educational workshops on recycling and sustainability, further promoting learning and environmental awareness.
SDG 5 & 10 (Gender Equality & Reduced Inequalities): The project ensures equal access to visual healthcare, regardless of gender or social background, contributing to the reduction of inequalities.
SDG 11 & 12 (Sustainable Cities & Communities & Responsible Consumption and Production): The production of recycled plastic eyeglass frames encourages a circular economy and promotes sustainable consumption practices, establishing a globally replicable model.
Beyond its social impact, the project strengthens the Nouns brand by beeing open source and replicating the model globally, with eyeglass frames featuring the Noggles and the inscriptions "Noggles by Nouns" and "100% Recycled Plastic" on the temples. The children's eyeglasses, versatile for both prescription and sunglasses, enhance the project's relevance in various contexts. The replicability ensures ongoing, global visibility and value for the Nouns community forever.
The mobile clinic, equipped to perform eye exams and outfitted with modular recycling machines, will have the capacity to serve 15,000 children annually across various regions of Brazil. The project merges visual health and environmental education while promoting the Nouns brand, with Noggles prominently displayed on the eyeglass frames and the sides of the clinic forever. Even with future sponsors, Noggles will remain visible, linking the brand to a lasting and global social impact forever.
The project will receive wide coverage from major media outlets such as Globo and CNN, ensuring broad visibility for the Nouns brand. A feature on Fantástico, Globo’s tv show, with an audience of 40 million viewers, will provide credibility and reach. In addition, mini-documentaries on social media and Web3 platforms like Instagram, Warpcast, and YouTube will keep the project in the spotlight, generating buzz and attracting new investors and members to Nouns.
The global replicability of the project allows recycled plastic eyeglass frames to be produced anywhere in the world, spreading the Nouns brand to unexpected regions. This creates opportunities for new members to engage with the Nouns community, increasing its market value and cementing its reputation as a global brand that produces great ideias for significant social impact.
Precious Noggles: Founded by Marinioac from Lil Sisters and Gnars DAO and Joseph Klatt, a partner of Precious Plastic, Precious Noggles was sponsored by Nouns DCS in 2023 with the goal of connecting the Nouns community with Precious Plastic through the creation of the first 100% recycled Noggles. With a focus on reducing environmental impact, production takes place in three locations worldwide, operating on-demand to minimize waste and carbon emissions. Its open-source, colorful, and comfortable design has been widely distributed globally, and Precious Noggles has quickly become one of the community's favorite models. Check out the complete photo album, capturing every step of the creation process so far!

This project uses recycled polypropylene (PP), commonly found in yogurt pots, bottle caps, and food trays. PP is lightweight, impact-resistant, and flexible, making it ideal for durable and comfortable frames. The use of recycled PP supports the circular economy, reducing plastic waste. Additionally, recycling allows for frames to be produced on demand, minimizing excess waste while letting children choose their preferred colors for personalization. This creates a more fun and inclusive process, ensuring each pair of glasses is unique and tailored to the child’s preferences.
The lenses will be supplied by EssilorLuxottica, a world leader in optical innovation, known for high-quality lenses and cutting-edge technology.
The glasses’ packaging will be made from recycled fabric, featuring personalized Noggles-branded cloths to encourage proper eyewear care and creativity.
The OBE spring hinges ensure comfort and durability, extending the longevity of the frames.
The mobile clinic, in addition to offering ophthalmological exams, will function as a sustainable production center, equipped with modular recycling machines to produce eyeglass frames on-site. This station will also host interactive recycling workshops with the children, creating an engaging and educational experience. In the short term, we aim to serve 3,000 children and distribute 1,000 pairs of glasses across 10 NGOs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the Casa Plástica workshop for Noggles do Bem, “PLASTIC: From Waste to Glasses,” 10 selected communities will have the chance to participate in a fun, interactive 3-hour experience learning how discarded plastic from their own homes can be transformed into new good quality and usefull products—such as a pair of glasses!
The workshop begins with an introduction to the environmental impact of plastic waste and the importance of recycling. Following this, we will engage in a dynamic activity to identify different types of plastics commonly found in the market, especially those most used and frequently discarded. Next, children will observe firsthand how plastic is shredded and creatively repurposed. This hands-on activity aims to raise awareness in a playful and dynamic way, encouraging creativity and demonstrating how small changes, starting at home, can contribute to a much more sustainable future.
The marketing strategy will be multichannel, focusing on the social and environmental impacts of the project, leveraging both traditional and Web3 platforms for maximum reach.
