tldr; build a new gallery and playground to design and reserve dream nouns + level up probe functionality and UI (funded 5e in Jan 2024, Gardener Round 5).
We support fomonouns.wtf and are definitely not trying to eliminate this aspect of the game, but the more people wanting to settle Nouns, the better - and it is a privilege to be able to do so. It will be rare for a dream Noun to match, but this will help get people excited about the prospect of settling, and will be a display of beautiful Nouns curated by the community. I've been running games and daily Farcaster rounds for the past ~3 months at /noc and we're building a strong community of creative people and I personally know of at least 5 individuals looking for a particular 'dream noun' right now to buy at auction.
Deliverables
- Smart contract to reserve traits to allow auto mint of Nouns
- UI for builder tool and gallery (/dream)
- Improved UI/UX throughout probe.wtf / & noun.wtf
- Daily initiatives/games to drive attention and engage community (it is working)
*We will not be making changes to any core smart contracts at Nouns.
Remuneration
- 20e (split evenly amongst 3 team members)
- Noun 544 (retro funding for successful gardener round completion / extension)
*This has been costed on a value-based model and we believe we are bringing much more than just ETH back to Nouns DAO. Strictly ETH-wise: 20e represents ~9 auctions, & probe has facilitated 7 since registering as client id 9 ~4 months ago. Beyond the auction, we are focused on exploring and crafting new experiences centered around Noun o'clock. We want to be building new tools and interfaces for people to play Nouns in different ways and this proposal will give us some time and motivation/confirmation that the DAO wants us to explore more and go deeper into nouns art/code.
Audit
- Have removed audit cost that was previously here: "we audit critical infrastructure not stuff like this" - advice from Nouns community developer

/dream allows you to toggle in and out of an aesthetically make-believe dimension of Nouns, providing the ability to reserve a Noun that could take years to mint. You can wear your pfp before it mints, as is the Nounish way. In order to post a dream, a single 'head' needs to be selected, then an infinite amount of additional trait combinations can be set to get your desired Noun. For e.g. there may be particular body colors you don't like, and these could be excluded whilst keeping a wide variety. Alternatively you could be looking for an exact Noun and only a 100% match could be settled.
Dreams cost 0.1e (DAO configurable) to post and can be withdrawn at any time before they are settled. We are considering different ways to notify the community of dream-matches / near-misses and will build these notifications into the site + explore farcaster integration to help drive more attention to noc and /dream.

The timeline is 10 weeks, with regular prop updates throughout the project. Beyond this /dream feature addition, we plan to maintain and improve the sites and continue to onboard individuals to Nouns via Farcaster, Twitter & IRL. Whilst probe.wtf will be forever Nounish, we believe a potential road for us is to thoughtfully expand to other onchain communities and art collections e.g. Terraforms by Mathcastles, Cryptoadz by GREMPLIN. We can build on our tools to explore and trade different collections in addition to bidding on the daily auction at Nouns. This would be a great way to grow the network and organically lead people back to Nouns that have a genuine interest in the project/art and would be likely to place a bid.
We are a team of 3 (mshrm) and have been working together for over a decade building web products and protocols like this and this.
We humbly request Noun 544 as retroactive reward for our efforts working with Nouns this year, now running community rounds every day, promoting the auction, weekly contests & facilitating the first Noun purchases for 4 individuals so far (7 in total). We have taken a deliberately minimal approach to our auction mvp, but as the early numbers show, it seems to be working. I believe this is a testament to the community initiatives and games we've been running to get people engaging with noc and exploring art on probe.wtf. We are requesting this Mushroom Noun as our studio is called mushroom (mshrm.eth) and we will actively partake in governance, offering hopefully valuable app/software development feedback and advice to the community.
/dream will exist in multiple places including:
