+against It's great that they are looking to nounify their region and community, and that they also want to get involved in governance. I'm honestly not interested in sponsorships, especially with 30K just for sponsorship alone? That's a lot of money. But I agree with Nouns Village, maybe the team can revise the proposal again.

Nouncil has voted against this proposal, with 6 votes for, 18 against, and 9 abstentions. Many believed this proposal to be posted too late and therefore not leaving adequate time to plan or promote the event. However, members of Nouncil did express interest in expanding Nouns into Kenya and hope the proposers will try again whether on an integration of this proposal or something totally different altogether. Confused by the proposal since the event is starting what seems to be today (Sept 8th), and through the 15th.. but funds wont even be released by then, right? Feels like a lot to just be tacked on last minute to the event like this.. Regardless, hope the event goes well though even if this doesn't pass!

Hi all, just a few points of clarification, as consider if Nouns would like to support Safari DAO and ETHSafari

I can understand how a platinum sponsorship feels wasteful in a world of conferences with lots of huge sponsors that make tons of money. That’s not us and this isn’t that. We are a small community group/DAO trying to put on a huge event annually to spotlight the African web3 ecosystem. To give you a sense of our priorities, here’s a view to the actual budget lines that a Nouns’ $30K sponsorship will cover:

Train/Shuttle to the conference for 200 builders and 150 speakers - $9,380 Kids area - $1,200 (nannies, entertainment, creche) Hackathon Venue in Nairobi - $5k Meals for Hackers -$3k ETH Safari Hackathon Grand-Prize-$3k 1 day of our Venue Rental in Kilifi - $7,733 NFT Exhibition - $600

Timing: Yes the timing isn’t great as there were some false starts along this process with props that didn’t get submitted or submitted with a number of issues that didn’t pass. We thought we’d give it a shot anyway for a few reasons: -We are set up for late sponsor additions and can deliver Nouns messaging right at the peak of the ETHSafari Hype. -Banners will only go to print on Monday and we plan to include Nouns as a show of good faith of ETHSafari’s commitment to Nouns -Camping Equipment: We needed to solve for the campers anyway at this point and will front the resources to make it happen. We are hopeful that nouns will support and we’ll be able to recover this investment from our limited treasury (Disclosure: Safari DAO’s treasury comprises only 82k OP from our RPGF award last year.) We also agree that spray paint was a bad idea and will stick to signage and art.

Nounfrica’s prop: We never wanted to supplant your prop, if you remember, we all spoke in favor of it whenever we could and tried to correct a number of factual errors and make clarifications as much as we could. We thought the builders village was great and wanted it to happen even after your prop didn't go through - we aren't hiding that the original prop came from you guys - hence no name change. We also included in this prop to specially invite you all to ETHSafari, and hope you’ll come and participate in the hackathon, conference program, and any nounish activations we can execute together, within context of that participation.

Merch/Branding - Yes, due to timing we won’t be able to do merch at the event at this time given the timeline but could always arrange for some interesting merch giveaways post-event. At the moment we are focused only on the nounish art and decor around the venue (stages, restaurant) and campsite. We’ve already instructed our venue in Kilifi to go full nouns, in good faith, and as a further downpayment on SafariDAO getting nounish.

NOUNs Participation: I think the biggest thing that will come out of this will long term will be an active noun-hub in East Africa and a permanent outpost at ETH Safari for Nouns. We think Safari DAO has a great role to play in Nouns and have already started demonstrating this with active governance participation and inclusion of Nouns branding irrespective of this prop’s passage.

Also, there’s no giveaway of 8 ETH…we said we’d give away 8 additional tickets to ETHSafari to deserving builders, in Nouns’ name.

This is one of the few event sponsorships which present an opportunity to return revenue to the dao.

In addition, the team is committed to participate in nouns governance, something I highly appreciate from any community seeking funding from the dao.

This proposal also includes Davin as a representative. This is an opportunity to highlight one of Africa's most inspiring props.

I agree with what others have said about the timing issue. I like the idea, but I would have wanted the sponsorship lined up long before the start of the event.

A lot of this seems awesome. The platinum sponsorship feels overpriced for what nouns gets though. I’d rather see everything else funded, and put more people on the ground who would have more nounish impact than the brand sponsorship. Seems like this is starting right now too, not sure how the funding logistics will work out with the outcome of the proposal being after the fact.

I'm afraid the timing of this proposal is not going to work, the conference / hackathon starts tomorrow and theres 3 more days left of voting plus queue and execution period, there will be 1 day left of this event..... I would suggest canceling this proposal to save the DAO costs on voting refunds.

safaridao website giving me 404 / 403 , i am interested to learn more though, but website not being live sort of makes me and instant no.

i have spent extensive amnt of time in east africa and would call kenya another home for me so would love for something nounish to happen there, but this sponsorship isn't it imo. For e.g. the amount of money is substantial enough to fund a permanent venue/construction. And we are halfway through building exactly that in Uganda with Davin who is mentioned in this prop, so would prefer to put funds towards that tbh as it requires more $ beyond original projection. I think then expansion to Kenya would be amazing.
