Edu Nouns requests funding for the creation of diverse educational materials like worksheets, book and a simple games, using both traditional and web3 distribution methods, as well as leveraging existing Nouns communities. All of our assets will be open-source and CC0, empowering parents, teachers and local communities to expand on our library.
Edu Nouns is a community developing nounish educational content for children. We provide resources for young kids to learn and grow through educational exercises, games and puzzles that feature Nouns art. Since our launch in November 2022 we've created a wide variety of digital learning materials, proliferating the Nouns brand and bringing our mission to reality.
Edu Nouns is looking to significantly elevate our impact through an ambitious expansion of our operations. Our vision includes the creation educational resources, all freely available under the CC0 license, along with all of the base assets. This initiative is designed to directly enrich the educational experiences of children and support families and teachers by providing top-tier, accessible learning materials.
This proposal is our first request for funding, and seeks to realize these aspirations. With this funding, we aim to create a comprehensive suite of educational resources marking a huge step in our journey towards fostering educational accessibility on a global scale.
Edu Nouns operates as a DAO built on the Nouns Builder Protocol on Ethereum mainnet, where we auction 1 Edu Noun per 24 hours. We are in the process of migrating to Layer 2 (Base).
Our website edunouns.xyz serves as our community hub, where we keep everyone up to date on our initiatives and provide access to free learning materials.
A key feature is the “Resources” page, where we provide sets of learning materials spanning 8 different subjects.
So far we’ve created over 40 custom learning resources - all made from scratch and inspired by Nouns. Each type of resource was designed to teach a specific topic and was tested in practice with kids.
Since we design our materials for younger kids, it's crucial that they are engaging and enjoyable, so children are eager to spend time drawing, solving riddles, and spotting differences between two Nouns, among other activities.
We have developed some games for children, including a card matching game called Nounish Old Maid.
And a memory game called Lil Memo.
We have also experimented with physical items - our School Notebook, shown below, can be found on Amazon.
Kids, parents & teachers use our materials - we especially love to see photos of children’ drawings or riddle solutions.

In the world of education, finding and producing engaging, high-quality materials is a common struggle, and it's even more challenging when you consider the limitations of free resources.
This is an issue all over the world, and provides a perfect opportunity for the Nouns community to fill an important gap as well as engage children with nounish media. We've seen attempts at educational videos, but without funding, they haven't quite taken off. Meanwhile, projects like the Nouns school rebuild in Uganda are great for physical spaces, but they don't bring the unique nounish flavor to everyday learning materials and are limited in reach due to location.
That's where our project comes in – we're aiming to fill this gap with our own nounish educational worksheets and activities.
To create a suite of nounish educational resources, as well as provide the necessary tools and assets to enable people to expand on our library by creating their own nounish resources based on our work.
Some of the subjects we will cover are shown below.
We'll design and create educational worksheets featuring nounish art and a variety of Nouns characters. Below are some examples of learning materials we've already produced:
Another problem to consider is that many teachers or parents lack the resources to provide color printing. With this in mind, we will be producing black and white versions of all the materials we produce in addition to color. We want to ensure as many people are able to utilize our resources as possible.
In total, we'll produce the following at a minimum:
Due to the nature of the assets we are creating, we'll also be creating activity sheets/placemats. These are ideal for settings such as restaurants, dinner tables, craft tables, etc where you want to entertain your children with an interactive placemat which they can color on.
We'll be making the final materials available as PDFs for anyone download, and will be submitting them to online worksheet databases for increased digital distribution. We'll also be making all of the digital assets used in production of the materials freely available and CC0.
We want everyone to be able to build off of the work we create in order to bolster our library of educational resources, increase accessibility to wider audiences, translate to different languages, create more difficulty levels, and more.
We'd also like to request 2 ETH for 4 rounds to engage content creators of educational materials. Many people are passionate about education and we are looking to grow our community with eager contributors, which this would further enable us to do.

We're a unique blend of parents, educators, and child development experts. This diverse background gives us a keen understanding of what truly works in early education.
Our learning materials aren't just theoretical - they're born from real-world experience and expertise. Each worksheet and activity we create is carefully crafted to meet the specific needs of young learners.
We've seen firsthand the positive impact of our resources in classrooms. Now, we're excited to expand our reach and bring the joy of noun-based learning to even more children.
Our goal? To make education fun, engaging, and effective for kids everywhere. We believe in the power of nouns to unlock young minds and spark a lifelong love of learning.
Our project stands as a beacon of positive social impact, with a clear focus on enriching the educational experiences of children, supporting parents, and providing value to teachers.
As our vision comes to reality, we will enhance the educational journeys of young people around the world with hundreds of unique, Noun-themed educational resources, all available for open use and creative expansion under CC0.
This is the beginning of a movement to embed the spirit of Nouns in educational content around the globe.

jesscas: YES DEFINITE FOR!! +1 machimus CC0 education is something I believe will be the future, and there's no reason that any education should be gatekept behind expensive school fees, especially with young children. I love this prop so much and I would love to see a propdate with the impacts from it
tori: I love this absolutely for. I think teacher resources are one of the trickiest things to find. you constantly have teachers struggling to have class work that fits what they need. Nouns creating fun little learning opportunities opens up so many doors to have parents ask questions about what nouns is.
my only thing that I worry is how does it get out there? how do we get teachers to find the nounish activities and want to use them for their classroom. There is already go to websites for a lot of teachers and finding a way to break into that circle i think is the hard part.
also would be so cute to see something like this working with one of the nouns food teams creating like a kids menu, i just got that vibe from being able to color in a noun

An interesting proposal, educational material for young children that is Nounish. Hope it can be translated into several languages, so we can use it too.
Distribution and localization (translations) will be important. You may solve it through rounds eventually. In any case, best of luck, and keep it nounish!
Mostly indifferent here, but not really too into the rounds model for sourcing content/deliverables. I felt the same way about props using PH towards the end of its lifecycle.
The Nouncil has spoken.
We discuss all Nouns proposals every week in our Discord. The calls are public and all are welcome!
You can find a link to previous call recordings in our Discord "links" channel.
This prop has been in the works for some time and is the work of a dedicated community member. Education is a vertical that Nouncil is very keen to pursue and hope that this initiative can flourish with the support of the DAO. Good luck and thanks for playing Nouns!

getting some of these materials for the kids in the nouns school after January 31st, 2025 is max proliferation
These don't seem like a 10x improvement over traditional worksheets. There's nothing really different -- just a worksheet skinned with nouns theme. For that reason, I think distribution will be challenging.
That said, I think education is a great vertical for nouns to explore, so I'm supportive of this prop in hopes that we can mature over time.
The ask is small, but the potential is high. With an increasing number of parents choosing to homeschool their children, Nouns has a unique appeal that could resonate with kids. If you truly believe in Nouns, it's important to introduce these kids to the brand early on, fostering lifelong loyalty from a young age.
CC0 education sounds fun and something I'd love to see expanded on throughout the future. Love when props really grasp nouns as a brand as well and build around that.
GL!
I wish there were some stats so we could see the current traffic to the site or to know how many downloads there have been already of the current content. Not having those stats along with not having a solid distribution plan makes me a little hesitant about this proposal.... but the ask if small enough for me that it's in that 'proof of concept range' so I'm supportive of this round of funding, and let's see what comes out of it within the course of the next 4 months.

Generally supportive for you to build out timeless educational worksheets. Hacking distribution will be an interesting endeavor! Hope that you’ll make it into free education related directory or article on Wikipedia or Etsy? ;)
Love cheer-ups efforts over the past year+ on this initiative and would love to see it expanded.
Like I said before: Education, Kids, Nouns, CCO and worldwide expansion. I'm down.
Thanks for responding to my questions on this! I remain a little unconvinced wrt distribution legwork but regardless supportive of your work and ambitions with Edu Nouns.
For, while hoping the team takes the comments about distribution on board. I think this reply sounds like the right direction, but how youre going to reach people and get lots of downloads is still a very important untackled challenge. Hope you guys can figure this out during the work to complete this proposal so it doesn't go to waste.
Good luck!
massive fan of this project and proposer. I have worked with Oaka Books https://www.oakabooks.co.uk/ in UK and I reckon they would love this, they already have many schools involved too if you plan to take it that way in the future. Thanks for playing Nouns, hope I can help you with this somehow and gl.
For the children! This is an awesome win-win opportunity to fund the creation and proliferation of nounish CC0 content that's both beautiful and useful (aka fashionable and functional). edu nouns has already invested significant time and energy to validate the concept and the @cheer_up's ability to deliver, and the results so far are compelling. Excited to see what edu nouns can do with some modest funding, a clear strategy, and the solid foundation they've already established.
I think engaging more homeschool kids with these materials and approach is def. a more interesting way. Rather than traditional school systems. I also think maybe finding montessori schools as well. I love everything else though and want to see this funded!
