NOUNS CAN DREAM | The Art of skateboarding

TLDR

This proposal seeks $199,000 to fund the long-term nounish activation and branding of Dreamland, Bob Burnquist's (Skateboard Noun #542) iconic skateboarding destination. The event will kick off with a one-day gathering during a scheduled Nouns event, followed by an ongoing presence at Dreamland for up to a year.

This initiative strengthens the connection between the Nouns community and global skate culture while also supporting public good projects in Brazil, a mission very close to Bob's heart.

Overview

Dreamland is more than just a backyard skate park; it’s a place where creativity and innovation in skateboarding thrive. This proposal aims to leverage that legacy by integrating Nouns branding into Dreamland for a prolonged period, effectively turning it into a Nounish cultural landmark.

Key Points:

  • Event Scope: While the proposal supports an initial one-day event, it extends multiple days beyond that. The Nouns branding and related activities will continue for up to a year, making this a long-term activation rather than a single-day expense.
  • Public Good Integration: In response to concerns about funding a private event, we have included support for Skateboarding Cares and Instituto New Era, two impactful public good projects in Brazil. These initiatives align with the Nouns ethos of public good and help justify the proposal's budget.
  • Onboarding Strategy: The event will serve as a gateway to bring new participants into the Nouns ecosystem, utilizing platforms like vrbs.build to help newcomers engage with Nouns governance and understand the value of decentralized participation.
  • Access for Noun Holders: Although Dreamland is a private property, Noun holders will have the opportunity to visit and experience the space by scheduling visits. This ensures that the community can engage with the space while maintaining the necessary privacy and liability considerations.

⌐◧-◧ Multi-sig Wallet

Mulit sig is for security of funds, not oversight. Preventing any single point of failure in case a wallet or wallets are compromised. And to address the point brought up from the community, added another wallet and adjusted the threshold to 5-3.

Budget Justification

The $199,000 budget is structured to support a year-long activation. Here’s how the budget is allocated at a glance:

  • Nouns Branding and Maintenance: This includes materials and labor for installing and maintaining Nouns-branded elements at Dreamland, ensuring they last throughout the year.
  • Event Production: Covers the costs of organizing and executing the initial one-day event, including travel expenses for skateboarders and supporting staff for the event production.
  • Public Good Initiatives: A small portion of the budget is allocated to support Skateboarding Cares and Instituto New Era, reflecting the Nouns DAO’s commitment to public good since this is an event at a private facility.
  • Security of Funds: A multi-sig wallet setup ensures that the funds are securely managed. The 4-2 threshold was designed to protect the funds, with an emphasis on security rather than oversight. We are adding Errorgardener,a trusted community member, to the multi-sig and adjusting the threshold to 5-3 as a means to address concerns.

For transparency:

  • Participants: The key participants involved in the event, like skateboarders and support staff (Like Judges), are the ones that the appearance fee is directed too. It’s normal practice in skate events to get a minimum for the risk and effort. As far as any Nounish contributors and Names on the prop, should already be in town for all the Nouns events so no cost or benefits directed at them other than the opportunity for all of us to connect and talk about Nouns in interviews so we can create the inspiring content with the Nounish touch.
  • Travel and Accommodation: Budget included for out of town skateboarders that skate the Megaramp, as there arent many in the world that do, is for costs for flights, hotels, and transportation. These are hard costs, and we've ensured that they are as accurate as possible and will keep the paid talent within the budget.

Bob Burnquist and Nouns DAO: A Story of Collaboration

Bob Burnquist's journey with Nouns DAO is a testament to the power of decentralized collaboration and innovation. As a Skateboard Noun #542, Bob has been deeply involved in the Nouns community, contributing to its growth and inspiring others through his actions and ideas.

Bob Burnquist shares his vision for Nouns DAO:

"GM everyone, this is Bob,I invite you to join me on this fun day of inspiration. Nouns DAO represents the future of collaborative innovation and creativity. Being part of this community has shown me the immense potential of decentralized governance in driving meaningful projects. Together, we are pushing the boundaries of what's possible. From onboard to onchain and back onboard again!"

Long-Term Impact

Dreamland will serve as an ongoing Nounish landmark, inspiring the skateboarders and fans alike to experience Dreamland through a nounish lens. The ongoing presence of Nouns branding at Dreamland will continuously expose the Nouns community to new audiences through planned+improvised media exposure, fostering long-term engagement and growth for all parties involved.

Additionally, by supporting Skateboarding Cares and Instituto New Era, this proposal extends its impact to public good projects in Brazil, further aligning with the values of the Nouns DAO.

Ongoing Community Engagement

The Dreamland activation is designed to be deeply integrated with the Nouns community. We encourage participation from Noun holders, whether through scheduled visits to Dreamland or by engaging in the onboarding initiatives that will bring new members into the Nouns ecosystem.

Forever Nounish!

NOUNS CAN DREAM: The Art of Skateboarding is more than an event; it is a celebration of community, creativity, and innovation. By merging skateboarding culture with the Nouns DAO’s ethos we hope to inspire new connections, collaborations, and a deeper understanding of the potential of decentralized creativity and public goods.
