Nouns Merchandise Development Project: "a noun thing"

Hello, I am amiyoko. As an enthusiastic member of the Nouns community, I have been involved in merchandise production for the past two years, alongside creating traits for the Nouns collection.

In this proposal, I will introduce the "a noun thing" project.

By fusing traditional Japanese craftsmanship with Nouns' innovative concept, we aim to create unique and attractive products. Through this initiative, we hope to demonstrate our respect for artisans and designers, express the true value of the Nouns brand, and contribute to the sustainable development of the community.

We sincerely request your support and cooperation.

The "a noun thing" project aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Develop high-quality merchandise with sufficient time and establish an efficient production system that meets community demands
  2. Expand the lineup of items to increase merchandise options for various communities
  3. Develop unique goods that fuse traditional Japanese craftsmanship with Nouns' innovative worldview
  4. Embody the Nouns worldview more strongly through products that are "delightful to receive" and "long-lasting"
  5. Express the true value of the Nouns brand and strengthen community cohesion through our respect for artisans and designers

To meet the demands of the Nouns community and expectations for high-quality merchandise, we propose launching a new brand called "a noun thing". This brand encompasses high-quality merchandise that embodies the Nouns worldview. Over the four months from September to December 2024, we will improve items and develop new colors, aiming to establish a production system that can respond to various community needs. This includes utilization at events from 2025 onwards, sales in physical stores, and incorporation of merchandise as part of styling in Nounish media.

Furthermore, we aim to be more than just a merchandise production company; we strive to be a brand that maximally respects traditional Japanese craftsmanship and Web3's innovative design. We believe that a brand's value lies not in how much it is respected, but in how much it respects others. Through "a noun thing", we will celebrate the skills and creativity of artisans and designers, and share their expertise and passion with the world. This attitude will form the core of our brand and embody the values of the Nouns community.

An effective distribution strategy is essential for the success of "a noun thing". We have developed the following plan, considering both the current sample stage and future mass production stage:

  1. Sample (Small Lot) Stage:
    • Main distribution targets: Key members of the Nouns community, event participants, collaborative partners
    • Feedback collection: Gathering user experience and improvement points through social media
  2. Future Mass Production Stage (Overview):
    • Offline Sales: Nouns-related events, carefully selected physical stores
    • Online Sales:Online Sales: Collaborate and cooperate with the seller Benjamin Latsko (latsko.eth) to realize pre-orders on the online sales butter.wtf
    • International Expansion: Efficient international shipping will be realized by utilizing already registered, reliable logistics partners
  3. Common Strategy:
    • Target: Nouns community members, Web3 enthusiasts, Japanese culture fans
    • Marketing: ・ Sharing product stories through social media ・ Encouraging feedback and experience sharing from sample recipients
    • Evaluation: Regular collection of feedback and reflection on product improvements

Through this strategy, we aim to effectively evaluate products at the sample stage and build a sustainable distribution model for the future. In particular, by leveraging established logistics partnerships, we can minimize potential challenges in international shipping. Detailed plans for the mass production stage will be formulated and proposed separately based on the evaluation results of the samples.

In the recent nouns retro round , we presented a portfolio of diverse merchandise we have produced. As a result, our wide range of production activities and the high quality of the goods were highly evaluated, earning us a reward of 0.6448 ETH. Furthermore, we were honored to achieve first place in the rankings.

The community has responded favorably to the quality and design of our merchandise. Notably, in addition to inquiries about individual purchases, there were also voices hoping to utilize the items at events. This feedback became the catalyst for conceptualizing this proposal.

The warm support and constructive opinions from the community members have been a great encouragement for our creative activities. Drawing strength from these responses, we have renewed our determination to push forward with the development of even more attractive and valuable merchandise.

While this proposal focuses on the sample development stage, we are also envisioning the long-term potential of the project.

  • Sample Evaluation: We will carefully analyze feedback from the community to improve products and assess demand.
  • Phased Approach: This proposal represents the first phase. If the sample evaluation is positive and sufficient demand is anticipated based on purchase intention surveys and pre-order numbers, we plan to submit a follow-up proposal including mass production and comprehensive marketing strategies.
  • Flexible Planning: We will adjust our product line and expansion plans flexibly in response to community reactions and market conditions.

For the second phase and beyond, we plan to develop items that further integrate the Nouns worldview into daily life. Specifically, we are considering products that fuse functionality with Nouns' unique aesthetics, such as hats inspired by Cones and Wizard Hats, semi-transparent tote bags inspired by the "Void" concept, and bath towels themed around "Abstract".

Additionally, we are exploring collaborations with Japanese fashion brands. Through these partnerships, we aim to combine Japan's refined design sensibility with Nouns' innovative worldview, creating product lines that appeal to a broader audience.

Through these new developments, we aim to grow and evolve the "a noun thing" brand while expanding the global influence of the Nouns community. Detailed plans will be formulated in future proposals, based on the outcomes of this initial project.

The following budget is necessary to realize this project:
