First of all, I'm excited that /tabletop is coming to Nouns Town LA!! I think there's a lot of great opportunities that come with engaging in this sector of gaming - table top games. However my impression is that it's moving fairly slowly compared to other sectors yet can yield high impact through live events.
I'd be more supportive of a smaller proposal that focuses on hosting IRL events and cultivating the community beyond farcaster. The dev work, content and rounds seem to be trivial and building out tooling for the sake of it, which I'm not a fan of.

I really like the idea, but I don’t think board games have the same reach and scalability as eSports. The potential doesn’t seem as strong to me. However, I would support it if it were offered at a lower price and could grow organically based on interest.
Thanks for this prop ispeaknerd. Its not clear to me what you actually aim to accomplish with this prop, and by extension it failes to excite me. I can see myself vote for a tigher idea, better explained.
I appreciate the grand vision, but I believe a 30-50k proposal would be a better starting point. I hope to see a revised version of this prop and will likely vote for it.
Tabletop is one of my favorite gathering places in crypto and attracts a great contingent that is Nouns-aligned. It’s arguably more Nouns-aligned than even Nouns eSports, given the existing Farcaster community and strong crypto participant overlap
I do think that if this prop passes, Nouns should get significantly more for this prop than “strengthening bonds”. Nouns branding intricately tied to tabletop, incorporating Nounish elements in the frames and other development efforts, and a clearer tie to Nouns throughout would be commensurate with the funding that Nouns would be putting in. (See Agora for a great example of how to do this well.) I’m saying yes because I trust the team to do this right, but if I hadn’t attended Tabletop events and interacted with the team, I’d view this prop as asking for a lot with very little in return.

i'm supportive of a nounish tabletop board game community but i feel like this prop is asking for WAY too much. we rarely fund $150k+ props for a new project in a new vertical. also not clear to me that something like this should be started top down with a lot of funding in this way and not more grassroots slowly bottoms up.
Current form does not convince me even if i like the cool niche trying to work on as it seems to have potential and also for a smooth ⌐◨-◨ integration

love the prop, would support a scaled down v
This prop is derisked by the excellent execution that Nerd has done to date. /tabletop has taken over Farcaster with people holding their own events all over the world and the biggest accounts playing and singing its praises. Board gaming is very Nounish and this is another bet on Farcaster being an important growth and community vector for Nouns.
Would like to see a more clear benefits for Nouns to sponsor this, but voting yes because I believe in ispeaknerd.eth and am in favor of nouns both supporting and positioning itself as a leader in the farcaster eco.
Things like adding 'sponsored by /nouns' to /tabletop's bio, website, and events would be quick and easy wins. Bonus points if you get a pic of attendees smiling and rocking ⌐◨-◨
in favor of making a big bet on /tabletop and ispeaknerd.eth, but would like to see more clear deliverables/benefits for nouns in exchange for such significant funding.
voting yay because I trust that if this does pass, ispeaknerd will make us proud <3

I'd also prefer clearer deliverables and more technical execution before considering funding at this size. right now this feels like it's primarily just funding irl meetups. I hope to see a revised prop as I would love for Nouns to support the /tabletop community

It's a big ask for an unproven concept. I am voting yes based on two things:
Potential to onboard and monetize the boardgame community
ispeaknerd has demonstrated grit and the ability to create network effects. This instills confidence that this team will be able to create impact through this prop and have it tied back to Nouns.
Reasoning: I was hesitant to support this prop until I took the time to dig into the boardgame community to understand this prop's potential. Boardgamers are a huge, global community, with a serious need for a modern platform to communicate, play and transact.
I'm a big proponent for bringing fun, culture, and community on chain.
I wish this prop did a better job at selling the potential and giving us a projected path for bringing this community onchain and disrupting the existing platforms. I looked into boardgamegeek website, they have millions of users. I believe they would greatly benefit from onchain primitives to help their communities evolve onchain.
+1 for Nouniverse cross over. I love when props demonstrate willingness to collab with other props and community members. I really like that this prop is working with Brennen, Nounish Prof, and prop583.
+1 for network effects within crypto. This prop shows that the team is willing to get after it and make the necessary connections to continue growing its reach. It also seems they're well positioned to partner with other crypto platforms to help grow distribution.
+1 The potential to create impact beyond Nouns. I think this team is well positioned to grow out of Nouns funding and seek greener pastures with teams and protocols that have a beefier treasury than ours.
I would not support a second prop without this team making substantial growth in user acquisition and onchain tooling to help onboard new users. The current stats show 160 players and their goal is 1000. I would not support a second prop claiming only 1000 users/ players as a success metric.
Highly recommend this team lean's on talent within Nouns to help cover some blind spots. I believe this team could benefit from more technical and business support to help create sustainability.
/tabletop may be one of the most nounish channels on Farcaster and the efforts extend to IRL brining an vehicle to proliferate outside of crypto while developing new tools on crypto rails as a trojan horse.
In addition, the opportunity to promote the already in production Nounish board game makes this a two for one prop.

I am supportive of getting to sustainability asap through sales of the Nounish board game and bringing more people into the hypersub on Warcast.
I love /tabletop and ongame summer. I'm supportive of this, but I'd like to see more onchain components of the /tabletop approach. I'd also like to see a path to sustainability for this effort and would not vote for a second prop with additional funding until that is evidenced.

thanks for your feedback. if i could respond,
/tabletop community is over a year old, established July 27, 2023 and I've been involved in its growth the entire time.
Also not entirely in a new vertical, brennen.eth's Nounish board game was previously funded for design work -- you can see his comments on this prop onchain.
As far as grassroots vs lead, we have an 80k farcaster channel from growth on fc, there have been no token incentives to join the channel, not sure what's more grassroots than that.

TAM is not there to be worth spending 150K on. Imo board games do not show the same sort of potential that esports shows

This proposal is an invitation for Nouns be part of scaling /tabletop, already the largest crypto-native board game community in the world! We are asking Nouns to empower us to take things to the next level by funding our journey!
Total Ask: 73.5k USDC + 30 ETH
A bit about us:
TLDR; Hey Nouners! We are /tabletop. We've been growing since last summer and are now the 16th largest channel on Farcaster and the world's largest web3 community of board gamers!
DOCS
Hello Nouns! ⌐◨-◨
Originally started as a side project, /tabletop formed from my simple desire to talk about board games with all the cool folks I found on Farcaster! After months of community growth we know /tabletop could be much bigger than a single channel on Farcaster.
We played originally as side-events attached to ETHDenver and FarCon.
We continue to play and talk about board games digitally and in person for OᑎGᗩᗰE ᔕᑌᗰᗰEᖇ!
As gamers desiring to build the open-data hub for board games online, community member and game designer brennen.eth connected us to Nouns eSports.
With the support of Nouns eSports, we hosted a Dominion tournament early last month including teaching a few attendees!
We are not Nounish in name, but Nounish by nature. We create positive externalities, we embrace difference, and, above all, we have fun!
Game tournaments: Hosted game tournaments sponsored by Nouns eSports through /tabletop and looking to continue creating a competitive scene for board gamers.
Game meetups:
Game development: I worked with @brennen.eth to refine the rules for the upcoming game Nounish: Discovering the Noggles (live demo on Tabletopia) through live playtesting with folks from the /tabletop channel on Farcaster.
Software development: Check out the MVP of our Farcaster <=> BoardGameArena frame tool at https://meeplecaster.xyz
We will be playing early copies of brennen.eth's game Nounish as an official side-event of NounsFest!
We are stoked to improve on our past events and make ETHDEnver and FarCon big and Nounish in 2025!
Inspired by Nouns eSports, and with their support, s/o sasqwatch, we're writing a Nounish prop ourselves. We've been autonomous and submitting a prop to the DAO is a natural evolution to bring Nounish influence into Farcaster and to all the newcomers we're onboarding to play board games!
With funding we can provide a sustainable salary for admin while continuing prioritize community growth and software development. This would empower us to keep our noggle-covered eyes focused on the professional Nounish lifestyle we dream of.
By onboarding non-crypto folks to Farcaster, we will be at the intersection of real humans and crypto social, bringing Nounish culture to the next generation of people in crypto. With votes from Nouns, we'll be able to push services out for the gamers in /tabletop, while strengthening the bonds between /tabletop, Nouns, and Farcaster as a whole.
We would like to challenge the dominance of sites like BoardGameGeek for board game hub on the internet!
The roadmap is: 2024 - bootstrap userbase from farcaster + irl 2025 - build Farcaster client tooling for /tabletop 2026 - Grow, expand, and scale
