Better Nouns support in Lighthouse
Improve Nouns participation with Lighthouse
TL;DR:
We have already added the following Nouns features to Lighthouse (iOS/Android):
- View proposals, votes, and comments
- Real-time push notifications
- Frames support when sharing proposals and comments
We are now asking for $30,000 USDC to complete our next milestone:
- View and discuss candidates in app
- Vote on proposals in app
- Customize notifications
This is the next step in our larger plan to expand the Nouns ecosystem and develop new, innovative features.

Background
We at Lighthouse are passionate about on-chain governance. We think the ability to collectively manage a shared treasury together with people you don’t know or even trust is perhaps the most powerful development to come out of the blockchain industry. Unfortunately, keeping up with all the latest proposals can be time-consuming and complicated, and as a result, lack of participation is one of the largest problems DAOs face.
Imagine if you could be notified throughout the day of important proposals and announcements that require your attention, and once you had a spare moment, all the relevant information was waiting for you to review. You quickly get up to speed on the issues, make an informed decision, cast your vote, and get on with your day. This is the ideal future we envision, and it is why we started Lighthouse.
Nouns support in Lighthouse
Nouns is one of our favorite DAOs, and perhaps the best example of a social community where membership isn’t targeted towards full-time governance experts. Most Nouners feel it is important to understand proposals and weigh in with their votes, but many aren’t able to spend all day researching the latest issues. This makes Nouns members uniquely positioned to benefit from our app and understand the value we provide.
We previously pitched our project during the Nouns x Farcaster round. We understand our proposal was slightly off-topic, but we continued anyway (without funding) and have added basic Nouns support to Lighthouse. Proposal data is read directly from the blockchain, allowing our users to read proposals and see all the relevant details, such as quorum requirements and real-time vote totals. Any comments that are included with a vote (VWR) are picked up and used to populate the comments section of the proposal, making it easy to follow the discussion. And, best of all, users receive realtime push notifications whenever proposals or comments are submitted.
We want to provide value to the Nouns community and encourage Nouns members to become our most active users. We also believe this will attract new users to Nouns from amongst other users who are already interested in on-chain communities. Unfortunately, there is a limit to what we can do without funding, and so we have decided to issue this proposal.
Funding thesis and proposal
We are wary of oversized proposals that ask for 3-6+ months of runway up front, and instead believe it is better to create proposals based on milestones with a narrow scope. More funding can be requested later, as development continues and progress can be proven. It is best to lead by example, so this is the route we have taken. Our bootstrapped team of 3 has already proven our ability to execute, and now we would like to request funding to take the next step in our plan to better support the Nouns community.
For our next milestone, we propose to add the following features to Lighthouse:
- Vote on Nouns proposals, and signal support or opposition directly from Lighthouse
- Display proposal candidates in app, alongside proposals (candidates are a not a standard feature of Governor contracts and seem to be unique to nouns)
- Customizable notifications: choose which types of notifications to receive (prop proposed, ending soon, etc)
We expect development to take one month, and we are requesting a budget of $30,000 USDC.
We are also requesting to enable our Client Incentives ID.
What’s next after that?
This proposal is just the first step on a journey we hope you will take with us. We plan to develop our roadmap in coordination with our users, and we invite all Nouners to tell us what would be most useful to them and what they want to see next. Currently, our future, long-term plans include features such as:
- Farcaster commenting, for seamless, cross-platform discussions of proposals
- Smart notifications: Be notified of unique situations (voting is about to end without having reached quorum; voting is close and your votes could tip the scales, etc)
- Incentivized voting
- Audio spaces for token holders
- Much, much more!
