+for generally speaking i’m not in favor of funding any more clients. the amount of money Nouns has wasted on overly expensive web apps, sunset products, and projects that basically do the exact same thing as other ones (eg. agora & camp,) is almost shameful. that said, i can appreciate lighthouse identifying a specific need with mobile, and asking for a (comparatively) modest amount with a clearly defined milestone to achieve — @wylin

Was leaning against as doesn't feel exciting enough to me. Am a fan of serving mobile in particular as everything should be mobile first but $30k for push notifications just seems kind of boring (no offence). That being said after using the app I'm a +for - interesting social type of feed with likes + replies that I'm not aware of at Nouns, and notifications will obviously help voter turnout (if people are using the app) . Also appreciate the product is bigger than just nouns already. Hope that some nice surprise features can be included within this and that this prop is underpromising and overdelivering. Gl — @pip

Nouns probably still has an issue with governance having a bit too much low-dopamine homework vibes, and giving a real shot at making it more fun and accessible (specifically mobile) is a worthy experiment to see if it increases energy and participation in governance imo.

I’m personally on a quest to reduce my smartphone usage and eliminate apps from my life. However I do think this is a client which is worth further exploring and enabling the team to build out governance capabilities. It’s a reasonable ask, there’s a product, let’s give the team some runway to get users too.

I'm really interested in the mobile app dimension here, and the asking price is reasonable imo. I'm in favor.

Generally in favor of supporting builders creating tools that can benefit both the Nouns ecosystem as well as the broader web3 eco, and this has several of the right ingredients.

I appreciate that the team has already built some nouns-focused functionality and is interested in building more, and also appreciate that this isn't just nouns-focused, and could help expose Nouns to other target users that are not yet members of Nounish communities.

A few things that I think would make the prop stronger:

1. Code was open source, or at the very least, you made a commitment to open sourcing the code if for any reason the app is ever sunset
2. There were additional benefits to Nouns relative to the other DAOs you support, ie. featuring Nounish communities on top or promoting nouns gov props to your own audiences on social (as a few ideas)
3. There was some evidence of existing usage by nouners or nounish communities
4. There was a plan for Lighthouse to achieve self-sustainability so there's more certainty that the app/feature will continue being supported without relying on ongoing funding from Nouns

Good luck! Not too familiar with the team yet, but your backgrounds are impressive (albeit not really verifiable for anon team members, but good that at least one team member is doxxed/has valuable reputation at stake)

Installed the app and tested it out, impressive what you’ve built thus far, and would like to see where this can go with some funding. Client competition is good for DAO members. To echo nounsdeli.eth, let them cook!

thebower.eth - My stance when it comes to clients is that we should work mostly on a retrofund model, the client incentives are there to encourage this already. In the past we've funded several projects in this category with most of having little traction and eventually just being abandoned. I believe it's important to see some PMF before committing any funding. I would've also liked to see in the any usage metrics and plans for user acquisition.

fabvalle.eth - Despite having a clean and well-organized look, I couldn't see a significant difference in this client that justifies the investment. As other similar projects have been made without much user adoption, I believe that without a strong appeal, there is a risk of ending up with yet another platform that doesn't get used as intended.

FOR

eusoujp.eth - The team got onboarded through a Prop House round and even though they didn't win, they went ahead and started building their project. Now, they're onchain looking for funding to keep going, and passing this proposal gives them a shot to overdeliver and show what they can do. Plus, it’s a great way for Nouns to bring in talented builders at a reasonable cost

joaoborges.eth - Seems like a reasonable funding request with a very experienced team behind this prop. Although I appreciate this milestone-based approach for the proposal, I strongly believe that future funding requests should be tied not only to new planned features but also to specific measurable progress/metrics in user acquisition. The world is full of amazing products that nobody uses. I am confident it will be beneficial to have more Nounish builders like this team experimenting toward such an important goal. GLHF! ⌐◨-◨

The team is already adding value to Nouns and is willing to keep doing so with well-articulated milestones. The asking seems reasonable, too, and it pushes for a rich, diverse set of Nounish clients.

Nouncil has decided against this proposal, with 5 votes for, 18 against, and 4 abstentions. While the initiative aims to enhance Nouns support in the Lighthouse app, making it a general-purpose governance aggregator, concerns were raised about the costs relative to the currently low governance participation. The proposal's focus on integrating additional features was appreciated, but the overall feedback was mixed, leading to insufficient support for the proposal.

Not interested in yet another governance client. But i find merit in having a nouns client that is more mobile - opinionated.

Nouns doesn't need more governance clients, not the ones atleast that are incremental to status quo.

competent team working on a focused niche (mobile native app), i'm now a user/believer since finding out about this.

That being said, unsure if this will be sticky for Nouns in particular, but we are early in governance innovation so imo makes sense to see how this evolves. Sounds efficient and bullish for more mobile governance tools in general. Appreciate that this project is already bigger than Nouns in community tooling. gl!

We need better tools for the nouniverse!

DAO tooling is important for community owned and operated networks and they have effectively dried up during the bear. They may also be served as public goods as no one has figured out to sustainably monetize them.

I am primarily a mobile user in crypto and have been for years. I find it frustrating when mobile support is overlooked or not up to par when they're in literally everyone's pockets. This team seems experienced and open to learning what is needed and iterating as mentioned in other reasons here. I think this is a good prop, a good interface worth supporting and I will certainly add it to my arsenal of tools to interact onchain.

I don't envision using this myself because I wont install the app, but I recognize the need for diverse voting interfaces because it can increase participation in the DAO.

I would like to see this team commit to growing the use of the app opposed to building it and just hoping people use it. I don't know what those efforts look like myself.

Also in support because this could help this team keep growing in the ecosystem the same way Agora has.

Thanks, frog! Building software and fostering a community is an iterative process, and we are motivated to work together with all potential users to craft the most popular product possible. A vote for this proposal doesn't mean we will stop at the features listed, and it will enable us to put resources into doing more user research to find what features would be most useful to Nouns users. It's the start of the journey, not defining the whole story.

You can see that I've been leaving lots of critical feedback on this proposal and the candidate that came before it. I've been quick to call out that I'm hesitant to fund more governance clients when we already have a few in the works.

However, jkm and team have been patient to answer questions and open to feedback which shows signs of their teams maturity and willingness to cater to building what is best for the dao.

While I personally do not think mobile would move the needle much for ME as a user, I recognize that others might feel differently.

I also deeply appreciate that this proposal is asking to fund simple, clearly articulated milestones rather than asking for a year of funding upfront. This is a great way to align incentives and shows that jkm and team understand some of the inefficiencies in nouns funding and are leading by example to make improvements.

I'm still not the number 1 fan of lighthouse as a product (yet) but I'm the number 1 fan of jkm and his team and think this is a good investment in folks who are aligned and proven strong builders.

As largely only a mobile user of nouns, a team dedicated to the viewpoint is something I'm interested in seeing being worked on.
