I do not like having parts of proposals not Onchain. The budget should be written into the proposal even if it’s marked as a draft. That Google Sheet could one day be deleted (not saying it would out of ill intention) and then future DAO participants could not reference the budget. I also agree with Frog & think it would be nice if we mixed in sponsorships of other events along with hosting our own.

Although we would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see our burgers cooked across the other side of the world and believe all speakers on this panel represent the DAO very well, and really enjoy the creative way Park DAO brings people on chain, this proposal isn't a ‘Home Run’. Therefore, we don't believe we should be funding things that miss the mark. It's a super cool activation, but unfortunately, this just feels like Nouns is funding the entire thing. The proposal doesn't state if Park DAO is contributing to this event, and if so, how much? This would certainly change our opinion.

Love to see all the discussion, and apologies for tuning in late.

Been thinking it over, and as others have pointed out, this prop is not a home run. Generally think the DAO needs to be more selective on funding right now given the recent burn rate and drop in auction prices.

Generally against funding someone for a second prop when they have a large prop still pending completion. Prop 450 was funded more than 7 months ago with what seems like minimal progress (?). Understandably, props like this one can take time to complete, but there hasn’t been much transparency: no Propdate since April 29, and for some reason it’s marked as completed in Propdates when it is not.

Agree with others who have commented it’s odd we are paying community guest speakers. This is likely not necessary, as I suspect many Nouners (including ourselves) would do this for free.

Also, it doesn’t feel right to see a number of FOR votes from Nouners with a direct conflict of interest in this prop, would expect these Nouners to abstain from voting. This being said, it is understandably hard to abstain when a prop includes many Nouners.

Feels like this was a rushed last minute decision given the prop and that FWB FEST is less than a month away. We will be attending FWB FEST (got our tickets 6 months ago), and are all for having Nouns represented there, just not sure this is the way.

We are aware The Park is has contributed some amazing things to the space and are Nounish builders. We don’t want to detract from the work they have done here. Voting against this prop, not the team behind it!

love the lively discussion on this prop! i feel the closest to krel's vwr that i was a bit torn but ultimately leaned in the direction of supporting. chris' report on there having been nouners and nouns props that were generated from nounish encounters on last year's FWB Fest also contributed to my decision. i do feel lilfrog's views though as well.

a few thoughts on things that could be improved for next year:

i agree with lilfrog that there's a lot of value that FWB is also getting by nouns fronting the bill on this event and performance that adds value to the FWB Fest. i wonder if it could have been structured as a bit more as a partnership where FWB wants nouns to put on this event as much as we're willing to fund creativity such that $12k FWB housing items and maybe the $15k main stage performance costs have been covered by them? i don't know the norms of FWB Fest but theoretically it does seem reasonable that they would court nouns to spend ~$50k for IRL experiences and creativity at FWB Fest by subsidizing something like $30k or so.
i'm slightly torn by $10k community guest speaker fees. on one hand maybe it's reasonable to pay ppl to come so that we have the best representatives possible. on the other hand it's kind of a festival that ppl would normally go to to enjoy and maybe the ppl that would normally go anyways would be the right ppl to represent the cross section of nouns x FWB?

as seen in my comments above i think the main issue i feel with the prop is that it feels a bit loose on the budget. i think nouns is increasingly getting into a world we need to be tight on prop budgets to be able to keep funding the depth and breath of things that we fund!

anyways, having said all that i really recognize the nouns love and passion the park ppl have and have no doubt that this will be amongst the most nounish IRL activations. hope it passes and best of luck to everyone involved!

Nouncil has to abstain from this proposal, as it failed to meet the vote threshold, with 14 votes for, 16 against, and 4 abstentions. Supporters appreciated the alignment between Nouns and FWB, seeing it as a fun and impactful event with a solid team behind it. However, opponents raised concerns about the proposal's budget transparency, the use of previously allocated funds from the Nouns Coffee proposal, and the lack of onchain elements. I ultimately believe this proposal is good. The Park are super nounish, great at executing IRL events, and FWB Fest is one of those crypto culture Schelling points that Nouns can gain a lot by having a presence at, if successful. Chris's testimonial about FWB Fest's impact on Builder also makes me more confident that this is true.

For these sorts of things I am not too concerned with the specifics of the budget. It's more of a "grant them $X and let them cook" situation in my head - which I feel comfortable doing.

When I first read the prop I went from „this is kinda cool“ to irritated because of some of framing to "rep Nouns", and specifically how the budget was structured - it killed the romance for me.

Yesterday evening I got on a call with Derek to talk through the prop and get more context. My main take away is that it’s increasingly difficult to craft these type of proposals and then also incorporate a lot of feedback. Especially when the general feedback is „shorten it“, „people don’t read that much“, etc. Sometimes you just can’t shorten it, because details matter. Different details matter to different people.

Without the additional context of how much is actually planned with performances, getting talent involved, etc. I was leaning more towards AGAINST.

Here’s my wishlist for a potential FWB Fest 2025 version of this proposal:

a (much) stronger FWB x ⌐◨-◨ integration
More structured and detailed budget [IN] the proposal
Actual total costs vs. what the funding request is for
A lot more details on HOW, WHAT, WHERE, WHO
And lastly as a Nouns + The Park Fan, if and how I can get involved

I’m looking forward to seeing content and mini documentaries coming through - keep us in the know!

Yes to Drew and Jesse's comments, artifacts created onchain should be attributed and signaled back to the Nouns DAO. The mission is to continue developing artifacts documenting Nounish energy in real life and digital artifacts attributed to the DAO.

FWB Fest has an outsized impact on the creative crypto community. Last year, I attended as an emissary of Builder DAO, and it was a top event for generating awareness and interest in Builder. I also spoke to many people about Nouns, cleared up their misconceptions, and discussed bringing their creative projects to Nouns, culminating in Nouns Coffeeshop. As a result, I can count at least six new Nouns since the event (Valerie x 2, the Park, Drew, Will, and myself) who were either awarded for impact or purchased a Noun after the event. Fest is focused on creative technologists and longtime crypto practitioners who are ready to become Nouns contributors and members.

One thing I've learned in more intimate settings like Fest is that would be contributors, even and maybe especially experienced crypto practitioners, are still intimidated by Nouns, think it's an exclusive club, not for them or find it difficult to onboard and get started. It is easy to overcome but the most effective way to do it is to meet people IRL, show them a friendly face, introduce them to other Nouns and make them more comfortable engaging deeper. We have a lot to talk about this year, including the ability to join by earning $Nouns. Having an official presence at Fest lets them know that Nouns is here to support and collaborate with them and the creative community.

Nouns is on a mission to put ⌐◨-◨ in front of the best creatives in the world in a fun and authentic way and The Park @ FWB in Idyllwild does just that.

First and foremost we can't gloss over the artists listed here, maybe you don't know them but these are some seriously creative folks with great teams and creative people around them that are very respected in creative circles. If any of them fall in love with ⌐◨-◨ like so many of us have there is tons of potential.

I would love to see this inspire more studio takeovers, collaborative sessions and event pop ups for Nouns in the music scene.

One thing I've learned in more intimate settings like Fest is that would be contributors, even and maybe especially experienced crypto practitioners, are still intimidated by Nouns, think it's an exclusive club, not for them or find it difficult to onboard and get started. It is easy to overcome but the most effective way to do it is to meet people IRL, show them a friendly face, introduce them to other Nouns and make them more comfortable engaging deeper. We have a lot to talk about this year, including the ability to join by earning $Nouns. Having an official presence at Fest lets them know that Nouns is here to support and collaborate with them and the creative community.

Tbc, this is not a homerun prop for me and the outcome is not super clear, but i have a strong conviction in Nouns enabling its biggest fans to do their thing. Provide them the runway needed to spread nouns organically in their (creative) circles.

Nouns thrives when people do things with great passion (and struggles when we fund people to do checkbox exercises), and in that department i trust The Park to deliver.

Agree with Chris. The rumors of the death of nouns have been greatly exaggerated, and probably one of the best ways to counter this notion is to continue to contribute meaningfully in places where onchain tastemakers gather to learn and share. FWB/Fest fits the bill. Also agree wholeheartedly with Krel wrt betting big on enabling the biggest nouns fans to "do their thing." Bullish The Park.

FWB Fest has an outsized impact on the creative crypto community. Last year, I attended as an emissary of Builder DAO, and it was a top event for generating awareness and interest in Builder. I also spoke to many people about Nouns, cleared up their misconceptions, and discussed bringing their creative projects to Nouns, culminating in Nouns Coffeeshop. As a result, I can count at least six new Nouns since the event (Valerie x 2, the Park, Drew, Will, and myself) who were either awarded for impact or purchased a Noun after the event. Fest is focused on creative technologists and longtime crypto practitioners who are ready to become Nouns contributors and members.

Although we would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see our burgers cooked across the other side of the world and believe all speakers on this panel represent the DAO very well, and really enjoy the creative way Park DAO brings people on chain, this proposal isn't a ‘Home Run’. Therefore, we don't believe we should be funding things that miss the mark. It's a super cool activation, but unfortunately, this just feels like Nouns is funding the entire thing. The proposal doesn't state if Park DAO is contributing to this event, and if so, how much? This would certainly change our opinion.

Derek played a pivotal role in introducing me to Nouns and sparking my interest in contributing. His commitment to the Nouns ecosystem is evident: He constantly rocks a noggle earring, dedicates time and energy to Nounish projects, and showcases Nouns when talking about his work onchain. A Lil Nouns Coffee event a couple of years ago, which Derek organized, was my first 'nounish' IRL experience.

Derek played a pivotal role in introducing me to Nouns and sparking my interest in contributing. His commitment to the Nouns ecosystem is evident in the way he constantly rocks a noggle earring, the way he dedicates time and energy to Nounish projects (the Lil Nouns Coffee event a couple of years ago, which Derek organized, was my first 'nounish' IRL experience) and the way he showcases Nouns when talking about his work onchain.

Last year, The Park's activation at FWB Fest was a significant success. They brought Nounish builders to the event and effectively showcased the heart of Nouns to a crowd of onchain natives and curious individuals. This audience, gathered to discuss building a better future internet, was perfectly primed to engage with Nouns' approach to decentralized creativity and governance. The Park's presence not only increased visibility for Nouns but also fostered meaningful conversations about the project's potential future impact.

Regarding Lilfrog's comment about community members repping Nouns voluntarily rather than for payment, I understand the sentiment but believe it misses the mark here. Derek and the collective of The Park have consistently represented Nouns at various events, including Coachella - all unpaid. There's a clear distinction between casually repping Nouns at events (which Derek already does) and executing a structured, comprehensive representation strategy as outlined in this proposal.

Lilfrog also asked if the money would be better served creating our own Nouns event. That’s an admirable desire (and something I know others in our community are very much working on), but that would be on a budgetary scale vastly different from what this proposal is scoped for.

This prop offers an immediate and concrete plan for representation at a major event happening in the near future. It allows us to seize a timely opportunity to showcase Nouns alongside other major players in the ecosystem via a nounish DAO that represents the community well. The Park's track record demonstrates that they have the ability to create meaningful, impactful activations.

when I first found nouns, the only thing I wanted to contribute to the protocol was making music with and for the protocol.. then I found the park where I kinda feel is the Nounish home of music, so far we have made over 3 nouns related music pieces from Friday’s at the park, Becky v2 and the Becky v2 short film which is decked with ⌐◨-◨.

our ugandan park family was not able to secure US visas to be at this year’s FWB, but I believe it was going to be one of the biggest Nounish activations with us getting to perform the song on a big stage wearing ⌐◨-◨.

Bring amazing Nounish energy, awareness, and visibility to FWB FEST

It would be cool if folks in our community repped nouns at these events because they wanted to, not because they were getting paid to do so.

Respectfully, The Park and its members have done more to proliferate Nouns to non-crypto natives than any other Art & Music collective within this sphere...and they do it unapologetically from the love of their hearts.

As someone who is both highly critical of the Nouns ethos while at the same time recognize the innovative potential that the Nouns community can offer the world beyond this small quorum of onchain enthusiasts, it's communities like The Park that show up to bridge that understanding with heart, intention, and a whole lot of caffeine.

If Nouns wants to proliferate whatever it is you all do here, i'd start by meeting people where they are...and that is offchain at events like FEST, but also at the skatepark, at the coffee shop, at the newsstand, in the garden, in the studio, on the playground...I could go on.
