art doesn't fit the nouns head style IMO

The bowlcut is similar to the "hair" trait -- same invisible person vibes. We don't have many people in this person, place, thing experiment -- this would add another.

appreciative of the initiative for new art props, like others have said i'm not sure this trait works for nouns.

Love the way of proposing new art in this way, a refreshing proposal to see and vote on. Not loving the Bowlcut as a head trait within Nouns for two major reasons:

1. It would stand out as feeling more like an invisible 'person' rather than 'noun' (which can be said of the 'Hair' trait too TBF, unless you just think of it as a wig. But it is already an outlier in that sense).

2. It doesn't remind me as much of CrypToadz as much as it reminds me of "Woody", as I feel you've built a sort of brand around the Bowlcut.

That being said, I'd be excited if this starts a new meta of proposing traits as you did!

I like the sentiment of the proposal. I Abstain because the most important perspective for this proposal is Gremplin's. it's important to include feedback from Gremplin and potentially compensate them for the trait.

I initially voted FOR in nouncil to bring this on-chain, mainly because "the fun around this prop is not cannibalized by an unreasonable ask."

Voting against the addition, because it doesn't click with me personally when imagining it as a trait in playground and in Nouns' creative direction.

However I do think it's [fun], and I can see that there is a group of people who like this and that it has potential as its own fun [remix] – a remix that expands on what the reference suggests.

I am totally on board for us voting for new traits idiosyncratically. I also think the platonic ideal of a bowlcut is pretty nounish. That said, I think if I saw this trait in the wild I would not immediately recognize it as a bowl cut. Would consider voting for an improved bowl cut trait.

Hey, Woody! Thanks for setting up this proposal. I agree with 4156.eth that we should move beyond the 8/8 tradition and I’m really glad this proposal exists. However, I’m voting against it mainly because choosing a specific trait in the end will always come down to personal taste, and I just don’t think it makes for a great Nouns head.

I actually like this trait. I think it's funny (read: hilarious) and opens another gateway for people who just found nouns to dive deeper into peripheral lore.

I don't think it works really well as a head. Anyway, CrypToadz are Gremplin, and Gremplin is part of the DNA of NOUNS. Long live the King!

I like it ... I think think a lot of others will like it also and seek out this trait specifically. The bowlcut has a built in audience and might even draw some more toadz holders and fans into Nouns — its a !vibe

Although I think it's a great idea that should happen more often, I don't think adding another project design is what nouns should do right now. Please, try it again with another design, this is the right way, just needs a slight change. Thanks!

While the Bowlcut idea has that fun Gremplin vibe, making it conceptually compatible with Nouns, it doesn't quite work as a Noun trait in its current form—it's a direct copy-paste from another collection.

I'd be much more excited to see original traits from Supertight being improved on by himself and by the community of nounish artists and submitted to the DAO. See 'Turtle' or 'Grapes' on the Gallery site.

We should think of Nouns' onchain pixels the same way we currently think about the smart contract: they back the treasury and the org. We should be very cautious, but very much willing to ship audited, community-authored, and community-approved pixels for the sake of moving forward.

One of the great features of Nouns is its ability to rewrite itself by adding or retiring traits, and we should take advantage of that.

I don’t love the aesthetic. Agree w goldy that it wasn’t designed for a Nouns head. That said, thank you so much for proposing new art. It should be done more often!

It’s exciting to see more trait props.
But I don't believe this makes for a good Nouns trait nor a good addition to the collection.

It was not designed to be Nouns head, and it so its not surprising that it doesn't feel like a good fit.
It’s not as funny as it could be if it were designed well for purpose. As it is, it lacks cohesion and is unbalanced, both too empty and too dense at once. Its also not legible (acknowledging that many traits are somewhat tricky to read). Most importantly it just doesn't feel good, and is not a head id be excited to see.

IMO one of the greatest things about Nouns art is how absurd it is, but that only works when balanced with the standards and taste to be very choosy with what fits. The threshold for adding art to the collection should be very high.

As an aside I also don't buy into any need to add lore to Nouns x Toadz, there is already plenty of this, and I dont think Nouns should incorporate other "brands" regardless, even if its one that is basically our cousin.

WRT the trait, one question I have is: Was Gremplin made aware and/or supportive of this before it went onchain? My presumption is "no" since it wasn’t mentioned anywhere. If this is the case, regardless of the art being CC0, there’s an off vibe to that move of submitting this without the artists support.

On the topic of trait props generally: I would love to see more traits added, and ones designed by different artists that aren’t in the collection (this addition would only count as someone new by a small fraction since supertight only reappropriated gremplin's existing work), but not at the expense of quality to the collection.


I also think it’s important to see the DAO able to vote no to something like this, being guardians of our own meme, so in a way im very glad this test has come before us.
