Retro Reward Chris Carella with an Optimistic & Purple Noun
Chris (ccarella) has been a very impactful contributor to nouns over the past two years. He has selflessly assisted many builders with proposals, and participated thoughtfully and consistently in governance as a delegate, both onchain and on Prop House. He also served as a Gardener during the inaugural cohort.
As the founder of Purple DAO, Chris has helped to bridge the gap between Nouns and Farcaster and has helped to build one of the most successful and purposeful Nounish DAOs in the process. He has also been involved with Nouns Builder and Builder DAO since inception, helping and guiding many DAO-curious individuals to follow in Purple's footsteps.
In his role as an elected Badgeholder for the Optimism Collective, he has helped Nouns projects like TNS, Nouns Builder and Agora explore ways to navigate the Optimism ecosystem and incorporate L2's into their Nounish activities.
To my knowledge, he has volunteered countless hours helping proposers like ETH OS, Public Good Beer and the Nounish Coffee Shop, helping them to formulate and iterate proposals and navigate the sometimes tricky Nouns governance maze.
Chris was a close 4th Place finisher in the recent Reward the Builders round with broad support from voters, and while I certainly think all three winners were extremely deserving of receiving nouns in their own rights (Congrats to Prof, Ben and Mike!), I also couldn't help but feel a little sad that Nouns wouldn't be gaining ccarella as a Nouner. I know some other Nouners and community members shared this sentiment.
While I agree that overall, a regular Prop House strategy will be the best way to handle nouns as builder rewards going forward, until we figure out the correct cadence and structure for these rounds, I think there can still be room for Special Case proposals like this one, or the recent Proposal 490 by Nounder 9999 to award an Orca to CoralOrca.
I consulted with Chris before posting this Prop and asked him which treasury noun he would most identify with. He chose Number 839 because it is nounish and optimistic, with matching purplish noggles and shirt. I agree it would be a perfect fit!

Upon becoming a delegate, I dedicated myself to being the best delegate possible by participating in Governance and supporting Noun'ish projects. I'm also an active Contributor to Builder DAO, trying to help steward the Protocol to success. Finally I'm an active contributor to many other Builder Protocol DAOs including The Park, Based Management and ENERGY.
Prop 279: ethOS: A crypto-native, mobile OS I use Nouns Edition ethOS Phone as my daily driver and have been the primary tester of the Nouns Edition phone. I received an early version of the phone in October for testing. I've been working closely with the team reporting and resolving bugs and testing new features. The phones have begun to ship. A public thanks from the team.
Proposal 378: Public Good Beer I Sponsored this proposal and helped the team with the Governance Process. I also co-hosted a Nouns x Purple meetup at ETH Lisbon. I'm currently working with the team to find a brewer in California so we can serve it at Nouns Coffee Shop.
Proposal 450: A Nounish Coffee Shop - A Los Angeles IRL-to-URL Nounish Experience I worked with Derek and Drew for over 6 months, helping to shape the prop, conduct due diligence and helping with the planning. I supported and advised on the Governance process and I'm still involved as an advisor on the project. I'm also helping curate events at the Coffee Shop such as an upcoming Hackathon at Farcon. Finally, I'm working with the team to source high quality coffee grown in Honduras by a farm that has Nounish values.
Founder of a Nounish DAO I'm the founder of Purple, a Public Goods DAO, whose goal is to proliferate and expand the Farcaster protocol and ecosystem. We have participated in the growth of Farcaster and have supported many of its top public goods projects. Our flagship activity is our bi-monthly Retroactive Goods Funding Prop House rounds for Farcaster Builders. Purple has 321 members holding 430 tokens, an aligned membership and has been self-sustainable since day 1.
This Noun in Governance If I am awarded this Noun, I will pay it forward and frequently delegate it out to onboard new people into Nouns for as long as I have one delegated to me.
