TLDR: An exploratory art program where artists are funded to create and mint CC0 art for Nouns. Selected artists become the voters on future rounds, creating a perpetual sybil resistant small grants body; For Artists, by Artists.
Through this proposal we will:
💰 Small Grants for Artists
Eligible artists will receive .3 ETH per proposal, distributed through rounds on Prop.House. We’ll run 5 rounds with 6 ETH each, a total of 30 ETH distributed to ~100 artists.
🔗 An Artist Hub (ArtistProgram.org)
We are currently developing ArtistProgram.org as a proof of concept. As the program progresses, the site will showcase art created by participants in the Artist Program. Our plans for the website expansion include:
💬 Onboard and Educate
We’ll attract artists with small grants, but educate them on CC0 and the public domain. Our goal is to encourage onboarding of new web3 participants — We’ll help artists create wallets (if needed), mint artwork to earn rewards on their art, for life. A goal will be to create long-standing community members through a great experience with CC0, ethereum and the Nouns ecosystem.
🎨 For Artists, by Artists
The program will begin with five program directors voting for artists in the Inaugural Round. As artists are accepted into the program and their artwork is delivered they’ll be airdropped one artist voting token which can be used as a voting token on future funding rounds launched after receiving the token — Reducing the Director influence over artist selection.
*By the end of this program we will have built a body of 100 artists, selected by their peers, and who can vote on future rounds.
🎬 Program Directors
The program directors will retain one voting token each to begin the process and be voters throughout the life of the program;
💸 CC0 Requirements
Artists will be required to sign CC0 releases designating the artwork produced for the program is fully licensed for the public domain.
Ⓜ️ Minting Artwork
Artists will be required to mint their work where a portion of the fees is shared with the DAO and to help sustain and bring visibility to the project.
It is mandatory for artists to mint their work as CC0 on an Ethereum-compatible blockchain. While sharing 10% of the fees with the DAO is encouraged to support and enhance the project, this contribution is not obligatory.
