Hi, Nouners ⌐◨-◨.

We’re Ordinary Folk. Allow us to introduce ourselves…

💻 You can see more of our work here.

We’re a big fan of NFTs and explaining complex ideas — simply and beautifully. We’ve been doing it for a while with companies you may have heard of, and we’d like to do it for you.

Proposal

We propose commissioning Ordinary Folk to create a 1-2 minute fully animated video. Explaining Nouns, how they work and why the community is so valuable.

But, why?

We know Nouns are awesome, but scrolling through all this?

Not so awesome.

A much better way to go through this information is with an animated explainer. Sure, we're biased, but the facts remain that explainers have the power to communicate complex and vast amounts of information in a short and entertaining way.

We think a project of this caliber deserves nothing but the best, and a clear explainer that explains the function and reason behind Nouns will really bring Nouns to more eyes, normies, and degens alike.

Summary

Ordinary Folk would leverage our production expertise to manage, creative direct, storyboard, design, animate, and facilitate the composition of an original score, and voice-over recording for a Nouns animated explainer. The full production package.

Creative Commons

All of our deliverables will be CC0 with open source files.

Ordinary Folk’s Process

We trust the process, and ours is highly iterative and linear. Feedback will be managed differently than in other projects given the nature of the DAO, more specifically:

When the project is executed, Ordinary Folk will build out a milestone schedule to send the DAO regular updates requesting specific feedback and guidance on the tone, voice, direction of the animation.

All Nouners and community will have the opportunity to comment for each work-in-progress in discord for 24 hours. How and if we apply the feedback will be up to our discretion and expertise.

That said, given the nature of the script writing process, we would ask that we can have at least 1 Nounder that we can have 2 or 3 script conversations with to make sure the messaging is exactly what it needs to be.

Starting with the first concept review, Nouners and community are directly involved in developing the product in a tangible way and Ordinary Folk will guide and decide on how to execute the project for the best product.

💡 From award to delivery, the process generally takes ~8 - 10 weeks

Here’s an overview…

Step 1: Scripting

Animation is a visual and audio storytelling medium but you always start with a good foundation — the script. Messaging in animation is a balance of showing and telling. We'll first focus on having the script stand on its own while building a plan for the visuals and sound.

💡 Scripting generally takes ~1 - 2 weeks

Storyboarding, Design, & Animation

While we work on locking down the script and recording the voice-over, we’ll also be working on creative direction, storyboards, design, sound, and animation.

Here are a few examples of each step:

Step 2: Storyboarding

Step 3: Design / Styleframes

Step 4: Animation

The process of animation is very intentional, tedious AND the most exciting phase when you begin to see elements from the designs come to life.

We'll send a series of videos showing our work in progress (WIP). WIPs may also come in the form of motion tests or a series of gifs. When we have enough motion compiled together we'll send videos that are a mix of still a motion to show our progress.

Step 5: Sound

Voice Over

When the script is locked we'll begin the casting for a VO actor. From there we'll have the actor record the script.

Score & SFX

The composer will begin scoring when we have a locked animatic with the final VO timing. We'll constantly be tweaking the score and animation to match and elevate each other.

Sound design (the process of adding sound effects) and sound mixing (adjusting the levels of the VO, score, and sound effects.) are the finishing touches of our projects. Adding a final level of polish to our work.
